Two of the four missiles fired were shot down by Kyiv’s air defenses, according to Ukraine’s military. The strike appeared to violate the UN-brokered deal between Russia and Ukraine that was signed in Istanbul on Friday. The deal was meant to allow the shipment of millions of tons of Ukrainian grain in hopes of alleviating the threat of food insecurity around the globe. Ukrainian command spokesperson Nataliya Humenyuk said no grain storage facilities were hit. But Turkey’s defense minister, citing reports from Ukrainian authorities, said one missile struck a grain silo and another landed nearby, although neither affected loading at Odesa’s docks.
